Tees Valley enjoys a superb location, nestled between North Yorkshire and County Durham, with easy access to Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Cumbria. The five Tees Valley boroughs - Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees and Redcar & Cleveland - all boast their own distinctive character, but each shares a commitment to development and regeneration, as well as a spirited tradition of industry and creativity.

Heritage and Heroes

An area with real pride for its past and promise for the future, Tees Valley offers excellent quality of life and a myriad of leisure and entertainment highlights, as well as few notable local heroes. Maritime explorer Captain James Cook is perhaps Tees Valley’s most famous son and his story is just one part of an intriguing local history. The first passenger railway opened in Stockton in 1825, and Middlesbrough was world famous for its iron production in the nineteenth century; two factors that have dramatically influenced the face of contemporary Tees Valley.
